ProDose is a smart dispenser that automatically dispenses scheduled doses of tablets and capsules. I'm the product manager, working with a five-person Mechanical & Industrial Engineering senior capstone team at UMass Amherst.
Right now that mostly means the physical design. I model parts in CAD and we 3D print prototypes, and each round is built to answer a specific question about the dispensing mechanism before we change the design again. The site also has a design lab you can try: a physics simulation of six ways to dispense a single pill, plus a test bench and a comparison of the concepts.
The rest is keeping the team lined up, so that design decisions, manufacturing constraints and technical requirements stay consistent as the design develops.
