Design lab
Which design should the capstone build?
Six concepts, eleven criteria. Seven criteria come straight from the bench (reliability, size range, pill safety, throughput, repeatability, fill-level robustness, forgiveness of the adjustment); four are engineering judgement and are marked as such, with the reason given. Move the weights, the ranking and its stability are recomputed.
1 · Decision matrix
Scores are 0–10. Computed scores update if the bench data is regenerated; judged scores are the team's to challenge, click a score for its rationale.
Weights
2 · How sure is the ranking?
Each of 2 000 trials multiplies every weight by a random factor between 0.4 and 2.2 and re-ranks the concepts. A concept that wins only under one particular set of weights is a preference, not a result.
3 · The alternatives and why each exists
4 · Failure modes
What goes wrong, why (the physics), how often it happened on the bench, and what catches or prevents it.
5 · Test procedures and acceptance criteria
Every metric named in the concept statement, where it is measured, and the bar a module has to clear. Pass/fail is computed from the bench data for each concept.
